Construction has started on the fifth Disney cruise ship, the Disney Wish! It's being built in the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, where the Dream and Fantasy were built. The sixth and seventh ships will also be built there.
This video shows a ship transporting the first section of the Wish to the shipyard. Over the next year and a half, the Wish will be built there. It'll be completed by the end of 2021, assuming the coronavirus doesn't affect the schedule. The Wish is scheduled to begin cruising in early 2022.
I wasn't expecting construction to start this early. The Fantasy took roughly one year to build, so I was thinking construction would start at the end of this year, since the Wish and the Fantasy are similarly-sized. This extra time is probably necessary because the Wish is a completely new ship, full of new features and things to do. No new features have been announced yet, but it's fun to speculate!
