Coming Soon!
Summer is here, and I have been busy making a large post. There isn't much Disney Cruise News to talk about right now, so I'm excited to say the post is going to give a lot of information about the four ships. I'm not going to give any other hints about it, so keep checking back in for more. I should be done with it sometime the week of June 25th, and if not, probably the week after that. I look forward to publishing it soon!

New Look!
If you have been on the site recently, you may have noticed that the blog looks different. Well, you're right! The black background is supposed to look like the 4 Disney Cruise ships. I didn't like how the old picture of the Fantasy didn't scroll down with you, so I changed it. I also changed the blog logo. Looks good, right? It took me a surprisingly long time to do that. I had to download the font, find the logo, change the background, get the same color as the Disney Cruise Line logo, then add the word "Kid" below. I hope you like the new look, and I look forward to covering much more news this summer. School ends on June 9th, and I can't wait 78 days for our next cruise! But, since time travel isn't possible, I guess I have to wait. On a completely unrelated note, the Magic is in Europe, the Wonder is in Alaska, the Dream is in the Bahamas, and the Fantasy is in the Caribbean. I hope the new look makes my blog look better than ever!

Oh No! Disney Fantasy Mechanical Issue!
Earlier this week, the Disney Fantasy left Port Canaveral on a 3-Night cruise with two stops at Castaway Cay. Yesterday evening, during the second dinner seating, an unexpected mechanical issue made the Fantasy sail slower than the usual full speed. Normally, the Fantasy arrives at Port Canaveral early in the morning, but later this morning, it sailed in much later than usual. That's not the craziest part. It was sailing in with a tugboat assist! Check out this tweet from PTZtv, the website that provides a live streaming of many ports. Click here to see. As of when this post was published, the Fantasy still hasn't left port. I feel bad for anyone who was on the previous cruise and the ones that are onboard right now.
Here is an email from DCL to guests that should be onboard right now.
Dear PASSENGER,
We are contacting you with important information related to your sailing today (May 20).
Due to an unexpected mechanical issue, the Disney Fantasy will have a delayed arrival into Port Canaveral today. Once the ship arrives, the onboard Guests will need to complete the debarkation process before boarding can begin for your sailing this afternoon.
As a result of this unexpected delay, we are asking Guests to postpone their arrival to the terminal building by at least 3 hours after your selected port arrival time, but no later than 5:30pm today. We encourage you to enjoy lunch on your own, and we will provide a $25 onboard credit per Guest.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will send updates as needed. For the most up-to-date information, Guests are invited to call 1-866-325-4243.
We appreciate your understanding during this unexpected delay and look forward to welcoming you onboard.
Sincerely,
The Cast and Crew
Disney Cruise Line
This is bad news for the guests and Disney Cruise Line. I have no idea when the Fantasy will leave today. Luckily, the three other ships are doing well. In fact, the Magic is on its way to Europe, and the Wonder is heading to Vancouver. I hope everything turns out well.

Disney Fantasy Out of Dry Dock
Earlier this week, the Disney Fantasy left Freeport with brand new changes (previously mentioned here). It is now on a 3-night cruise with two days at Castaway Cay. I think they are doing this cruise to get the Fantasy back on schedule (leave on Saturday, come back the next Saturday) This was the Fantasy's first "reimagination" with the Wonder at the end of last year and the Dream a few years back. A reimagination was just what the Fantasy needed to keep in best shape. Now, it's better than ever!

Happy Birthday to Disney Cruise Line (and me)!
For Disney Cruise Line, May 3 is a special day. It's their birthday🎂! For me, May 3 is also a special day. It's my birthday too! Recently, I found out that I share a birthday with Disney Cruise Line! Even though the Magic was launched in 1998, the company itself started in 1996. Sorry it's a day late, DCL, but happy late birthday! And also, May the Fourth Be With You!

Disney Fantasy Now In Dry-Dock
Yesterday, April 29th, the Disney Fantasy left Port Canaveral and headed to Freeport, Bahamas for an 18 night dry dock. This is the Fantasy's first dry dock, and they are changing quite a few things. Let's take a look!
1. Sweet on You
Sweet on You is a specialty ice cream shop that will probably take over the Arr-Cade. It will have a wider selection of flavors than Eye-Scream, but it will probably be at an extra cost. Sweet on You will have ice cream, gelato, toppings, candy, and much more!
The Oceaneer Club, the kids-only area, will also get some cool new areas. Replacing the Explorer Pod comes the Star Wars Command Post, similar to the Dream's Millennium Falcon. It will have Star Wars themed activities, and maybe some character visits. Since the Fantasy has Star Wars Days at Sea, I think there will be some extra-special activities here. With the new movie, Star Wars Episode VIII coming later this year, this is sure to be a popular spot. Another new addition to the Oceaneer Club is the Marvel Super Hero Academy. Here, kids will learn about how to be a hero from none other than the heroes themselves! There will also be immersive games and exciting Marvel activities.
3. Tiffany & Co.
For the first time on any Disney Cruise ship... A Non-Disney Store! Tiffany & Co. will be where the Vista Gallery was (The Vista Gallery will be moved to Deck 2). Guests will now be able to purchase fancy jewelry onboard. I'm guessing they'll at least have something with Mickey or Minnie on it.
The Dry Dock will be finished by May 17th, with the first sailing a 3-Night cruise with 2 stops at Castaway Cay. After the renovation, the Fantasy will be better than ever. It looks like a good summer for the Disney Fantasy!

This cruise was my favorite one we have taken so far. It was really FANTAStic!
Official First Post!
Welcome to the blog! This is a blog about all things Disney Cruise Line, from a kid's perspective! There will be news, trip reports, photos, and more! I have been on 4 Disney cruises, and am going on 2 more. There are a lot of websites that describe things from an adult's perspective, but this is only from a kid! Onboard the ships, adults are only allowed inside the youth areas during open house, but kids are allowed whenever the club is open! Sometimes, the open houses are crowded with both kids and adults, so it can be hard to get good information about what happens when it's not open house. If a kid has never been on a Disney Cruise but wants to know about the kids only areas, an adult wouldn't be the best choice, but asking a kid who has been inside the clubs would be a great choice!
I can't wait to share my love of DCL with everyone, and making a blog sounds like the perfect way to do that! I hope you enjoy the Disney Cruise Line Kid!
| It looks like a long journey ahead! |
